Initially the NFL team thought it was a prank. Training was immediately suspended, while police and Homeland Security officials were called to investigate.

After a complete analysis, Dallas Police forensic experts determined that the white substance, unfamiliar to most of the players, was in fact, the goal line.

Practice will resume this afternoon after Police and Homeland Security decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.

While sitting in the stands watching the Texas / Rice season opener at Reliant Stadium Saturday afternoon, I got the text *Matt Leinart has been released by the Arizona Cardnials*. I turned to Lajitas and said * The Texans will give him a look*. Lajitas told me it wouldn’t happen. Looking back I should have bet him a bottle of my favorite whiskey!  Leinart has signed a 1 year deal with the Houston Texans to be their 3rd string quarterback, possibly moving his way up the depth chart to Matt Schaub’s back up.

After cutting another former USC Trojan quarterback John David Booty, the Texans were left carrying only 2 quarterbacks heading into the season opener on Sunday against the Colts. After signing Leinart, in my opinion they still only have 2 quarterbacks heading into the season opener.  Leinart was supposed to be the face of the Cardinals franchise when drafted 10th over all in the 2006 . Since then he has been nothing short of disappointing.  Oh where is Mel Kiper Jr. when you need him. I really want to point at him and laugh yet again. Mel Kiper Jr.  when asked about Matt Leinart prior to the 2006 NFL draft, and I quote *Matt Leinart is the only quarterback in this draft ready to step in and make an immediate impact*. I guess in Mel’s eyes, carrying a clip board is an immediate impact.

Texans fans please find time this week to say a prayer to the football gods that Matt Schaub stays healthy again this season. If you see Leinart on the field this year, it could make for a LONG season.

Terrell Owens has yet to wrap his mind around the fact that he is a 35 yr old wide receiver. Still finding himself unemployed he is now blaming the *character issues* he has been labeled with as the reason for teams not being interested in his services.  Hey T.O. first and foremost your 35 years old!  Secondly you can say that your a great guy to have in the locker room but we all know that is a load of crap. Offensive coordinators and quarterbacks have better things to do then listen to you cry about how your not getting the ball.

If T.O. is not signed by someone during this off season I’m not sure what cameramen around the league will do. I mean for the last 5 years they had to have the dedicated T.O. cam during every game.  Its like during the meeting before the game Bob the camera guy drew the short straw, and was given the privilege of letting us the fans know what T.O. was doing every second of the game.  Having to ensure that we saw every conversation on the sideline to make sure we didn’t miss a potential blow up. Making sure to catch every smile, look of frustration, wink, hand gesture, and pick of his nose.  Just to make sure they guys on Sportscenter had something to break down after the game. God forbid they actually I don’t know, break down the GAME!

City leveled by a hurricane, call Lombardi. Worst oil spill in U.S. history, call Lombardi.  Give me a break.  The Saints  and coach Sean Payton plan to visit the worst hit areas in Louisiana by the oil spill not to roll up their sleeves and help, but to lend moral support.  Equipped only with the Vince Lombardi trophy they plan to bring hope to the people whose livelihood have been effected by the latest tragedy to hit Louisiana.  Really?

I’m all for the feel good story, but give it a rest already.  If your not down there to roll up your sleeves and help do some clean up, then why even bother. Yes I realize the New Orleans Saints me everything to the people of Louisiana but c’mon I’m tired of hearing about the Saints and what their Superbowl win means to the community. I’m also tired of hearing about how just their mere presence can lift an entire state up,  somehow make them forget that once again the powers that be have dumped more then they can handle in their laps.

I think that players and team should give back to the community, but when it feels like *good publicity* thats when you have to draw the line.  I got a laugh out of one of the comments left on ESPN about this. It said maybe the Saints should shove the Lombardi trophy down in the hole to plug it up.
