Anyway, I tried to update the blog and it decided it wasn’t having any of that and it went into “I’m BROKEN” mode. Thanks to a bit of troubleshooting by Steveegg from No Runny Eggs, we’re back online. There’s a twelver in Steve’s not too distant future… Thank you sir.

So as most of you know I have been in hiding for a few months, life has kind of gotten in the way of my posting my sports opinions. I would like to thank the Ol Broad for helping out in my absence.  Truth be told I have been disgusted by some of the major stories over the past few months. Stories like LeBron James taking his talents to South Beach, this years Brett Favre watch, and a few others.  The only people that care about LeBron James leaving the Cavs are Cavs fans, and the Miami Heat fans.  As far as Brett Favre watch 2010, do we really need to go into that?

I have been reading over some of the stuff that I have in the archives and I had a good chuckle over some of the articles. Other articles I thought to myself, *man this is really good, maybe its time to bring it back to the front page*.  So please enjoy these articles I have picked out. Anything else you may be looking for can be found by using the search box on the new site.  Looking back through the archives made me realize its been a fun 3 years, and hopefully if I can stay motivated I’ll make another 3 years.

Thirteen years ago today, two people who had only known each other 6 months decided to get married. What the hell were we thinking?  We had no idea what being married truly meant. I guess you could say we were young and dumb. With the years however has come wisdom.  I think the single greatest piece of advice I have ever received concerning marriage is this.  Don’t sweat the small stuff, and it’s all small stuff. The wife and I were kicking around a little gift shop last night on the Kemah Boardwalk, trying to kill some time before our dinner reservation.  I mentioned to the girl working in the shop that  it was our anniversary weekend and she asked how long had we been married. I replied 13 years, and she immediately asked what’s the secret? Seems her and her boyfriend had just broken up the week before.  I told her  patience and understanding.

Now I will not sit here and try to spin a tale of the happily ever after story book marriage. If I had to categorize our first 10 years in a video rental store, it would be found in the horror section. Now it wasn’t all bad, but anyone who knows us, know we have gone through our fair share of problems.  The wife and I break our marriage down into two time lines. The first 10 years, and the last 3 year.  Over the last 3 years we have finally figured out what it truly means to be married. What it means to work together, and there is more *Ours* then Mine and Yours .  See that term *Ours* is something that we never really understood in the early years. We were more a Mine, and Yours, but never ours kind of couple. I have come to realize over the years that those kind of couples become a statistic.

I have come to realize over the years, that my life doesn’t work or run near as smoothly without my wife in it.  She is my best friend, and the single most important person in my life next to my daughter. For a long time I didn’t realize that. I used to put everything else ahead of her. This would later turn out to become a HUGE problem.  Yes she can be a pain in the ass at times, some would say she is spoiled, but she deserves it. For no other reason, she puts up with me!  I know its hard to believe, but I am not the easiest person to live with.  We have gone through hell and back and come out on the top of the mountain.  I am thankful every day that I have her in my life.  No one gave us 6 months when we got married, 13 years later I wonder *what were you guys thinking*?  Last night at dinner I found myself wondering if the judge that married us is still around. I’m sure he didn’t give us much of a chance after I asked for the ceremony to be done in Spanish, so I could later claim I didn’t know what I was getting into.

So to my wife I say thank you for always being there, even when I probably didn’t deserve it. Without you, there is no me.  We may have been to hell and back, but I wouldn’t trade one footstep in the journey of our life together.

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Hopefully Santa made a stop by your house , and your able to enjoy the day with friends and family.

On this day in history at 1:43 a.m.  my daughter burst onto the scene.  Believe me when I say life has never been the same!

After a lazy day of doing nothing we met up with Mr. and Mrs. Ol Broad for dinner at the Hard Rock Casino. Here is a random fact that I found very interesting. My wife and I have been married for 12 wonderful years and our parents have never met, how the hell does his happen?? Oh yeah that’s right we ran off and got married without telling anyone, that explains it. Anyway the in laws meet, and I gotta say it was rather nice how well everyone got alone from the beginning.  They got along so well that as soon as I turned my back on them, they BOLTED! SP and I were poking around in the gift shop after dinner you know doing tourist stuff. Ol Broad was right behind us, and when I turned around to ask her a question the parents were no where in sight. What the hell?? SP and I just looked at each other with confused looks on our faces.

Come to find out they made tracks to the casino, where they could smoke and get their gamble on. SP and I poked around taking pictures, checking out all the cool stuff they have on display, basically keeping ourselves entertained while the children played.  Enjoy some of the 60 plus pictures I took..

This was probably the coolest item in the collection, based on its back story. When Katrina hit Mississippi it destroyed the Hard Rock Casino, along with pretty much everything in its path. This guitar was in the original casino, and was thought to have been lost. This guitar was found in the gulf months after Katrina hit, and returned to be placed back in the collection. The guitar is still in pretty good shape considering what it has been through. Even more impressive Dimebag’s signature is still in tact.

All and all it was a very enjoyable evening. I’m also happy to report a few Hard Rock bucks managed to make its way out from the childrens playtime. That always makes for a good time at the casino.

You already know tickets have been secured for the Los Lonely Boys show on Friday night.

Greetings from Gautier Mississippi. Small person and I arrived at my mom’s yesterday afternoon, but after a 6hr drive, the last thing I wanted to do was look at a computer. After sitting around chatting and catching up my mom and her husband took us out to a local barbecue spot, move over Stubbs, and make room for The Shed.  Bruce (my moms husband) was telling me how great the food is, I told him we shall see.  The food makes it to the table, and he watched me take the first bite, and a smile came to his face. I was in heaven. We are planning to take Mr. And Mrs. Ol Broad there for dinner when they get down here later this week. Since the wife couldn’t make the trip with us my mom decided to buy 3 bottles of  official *The Shed* barbeque sauce to send home with me. I guess when I get home I will be firing up the grill so I can put the mass quantity of sauce to good use.

Small person is actually standing on someones sidewalk to pose for a picture. Katrina wiped out a lot of the houses right on the shoreline. To her left is a foundation for a house that was basically blown right off during Katrina.  There are several houses like this right near my mom’s house.

We had a pretty bad storm roll through earlier this afternoon so I decided to snap a picture from the back porch. Kinda cool looking huh? More updates and pictures to come as the week rolls on.

After a day of running around with 3 woman, I needed some guy time. My father in law has taken to make customer pens, and has gotten quite good at it. He has decided to take me under his wing, and teach me a thing or two about making pens.  I have successfully created my first pen, which the mother in law wants an exact copy of by the way.

The finished product. Cowboys blue and silver of course, but I must say this pen came out extremely slick looking. I could be bias because I made it, but hey I learned something new, and had a great time doing it.

Yesterday started out like any other day when traveling. Get up, showered, packed, loaded up, and start the search for food. We decided to try and hit the local Waffle House for some ever so tasty pecan waffles but quickly changed our minds, due to the massive line. We decided to try another hole in the wall cafe, and that’s where the fun started.

We were met by a rather loud waitress that insisted on calling  us *BOO*. Now I have been called *BOO* before, but never by a middle aged white woman. Ol Broad was not amused, while she was addressing the adults as *BOO*, she was addressing the kids as *Ma’am*? We were also not ammused by the fact that we could not get breakfast. So we ordered what would become lunch, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait some more. We could see our food sitting there, but it was not making its way to our table for some reason. I mean after all at this point we were the only ones in the cafe, so why was our food not making its way to our table? Probably because our waitress was on a smoke break, while chatting with some other employees. *shakes head* The only saving grace for the little cafe that could, was the food was above average.

Full and in need of a nap we hit the open road and start the last leg of our journey. We’re not even a good hour into our trip when I see the Ol Broad pulling over to the side of the road. So I quickly pull over and I happen to notice my youngest child getting out on the side of the road. My first thought is *Oh sh*t she has finally done it, she drove the Ol Broad crazy and is being put out on the side of the road. Come to find out there was a soda bottle malfunction. A bottle of Big Red exploded all over Ol Broad, and the inside of her brand new truck, with LEATHER seats. Upon hearing of this mess, my first comment was, *Please tell me it wasn’t SP fault*.  Nope, this one was all on Ol Broad!  A quick stop at a local gas station, and a change of clothes, and were back on the open road, AGAIN!  At this point I’m thinking we might get to Tennessee some time today.

In my last post I had various points that I found interesting. Yesterday I was extremely tired, so I only found one thing interesting. I noticed there were a ton of cars on the road without both front and rear license plates. In Texas we are required to have both, so it was odd to see that many cars out on the road without both. Needless to say we arrived safely at the bat cave around 6, and all in one piece. Veg time here we come!!

One last thought, I was correct making fun of my mother in laws license plate did not get old on day two of our journey. Heh
