2010 nfl predictions.

I’m pumped for some real NFL football and as the resident Cowboys homer I feel obligated to post here.

AFC East

  • Bills 4-12.  They suck, tough division, looking to head to Toronto ASAP.
  • Jets 7-9.  Not buying it.
  • Miami 11-5.  Buying it hardcore.  Solid power team, well organized, well coached, good D, finally a QB prospect that knows the system.
  • New England 11-5.  Comin’ back

AFC North

  • Bengals 8-8.  Not that good even if T.Ocho doesn’t explode.
  • Browns 2-14.  The only thing that will make me take the Browns to the Superbowl is a rancid taco.
  • Ravens 10-6.  Yup
  • Steelers 9-7.  Something doesn’t seem right, but they’ll still be pretty good.

AFC South

  • Indy.  13-3
  • Jaguars 6-10.   The year they fall apart
  • Texans 9-7.  They are good, but reality check: they aren’t that good
  • Titans 10-6.  I have a soft spot in my heart for smash mouth football.

AFC West

  • Broncos 7-9.  I’m glad I don’t have cable; sportscenter will be a 15 minute Tebow watch&commentary starting week 4.
  • Chiefs 8-8.  Years of good drafts show up this year.
  • Raiders 7-9.  Weak division, better than most give them credit for.
  • Chargers 9-7.  2nd shakiest division winner from last year.

NFC West

  • 49ers 8-8… and they still win the division.
  • Cardnals 7-9.  Still a solid team even minus Warner and replaced with a spare.
  • Rams 3-13.  Pray Bradford doesn’t start until the line is sorted out… that is one glassy shoulder.
  • Seahawks 7-9.  Better than most think.

NFC South

  • Bucs 5-11.  little to no upside for this year
  • Panthers 7-9.  meh.
  • Falcons 8-8.  Not the year.
  • Saints 12-4.  Hard pick eh?

NFC North

  • Packers 13-3.  Solid top to bottom.
  • Vikings 10-6.  O-Line aging, defense aging, Favre is 40, and Jared Allen cut off his mullet for his wife!
  • Bears 7-9.  I can already hear Jay Cutler blaming his picks on everyone else.
  • Lions 6-10.   Big step forward this year.

NFC East (Saved the best for last)

  • Redskins 6-10.  Face it, they suck.
  • Philly 10-6.  I think Kolb will do just fine.
  • Giants 11-5.  Back to a dominating team.  Eli will look much better without plantarfaciatus (I’m not even going to spell check that)
  • and finally, my Dallas Cowboys.  This is a very talented team.  Their defense will be well above average.  Their offense will be just above average after figuring in the crappy o-line.  The most concerning thing about this team is Jerry choking every bit of player competition out of it.  Crayton is much better than Roy Williams, but Jerry says Roy stays and starts.  Jerry says Barber, who has lost both his burst and his physicality, starts when Choice is obviously better.   Jerry wants less 2 tight end sets, he gets it.  Final prediction, a disappointing 9-7.  The NFL blows up 2011, Wade retires, Jerry promotes Garrett to head puppet coach, Parcell’s core ages, Dallas spirals into mediocrity.

Without going over every one of your predictions . . . I think the Panthers and Texans will be slightly better than you say . . . and the Packers one game worse. I think 12-4 is doable . . . and more likely.

Anyway, I do think it’s going to be another weird year for the NFL. Sorta like 2 seasons ago when it was something just to get to 50% with your picks. Should be fun. Makes for interesting watching.
