Yup, I’ll comment occasionally throughout the game. Participation is encouraged.
Real *American* men don’t like soccer… of course they don’t like quiche either, but the quiche has bacon and the soccer has sport. I’m in on both!
Pregame festivities include the above mentioned bacon quiche & vodka… lots of vodka.
This thread will turn out to be fun, or my keyboard will be covered in vomit and I’ll pass out without posting much. I don’t think I’ll need to clarify what ends up happening.
That said “GO USA!” This is game is our whole tournament. I understand we’re a HUGE underdog in this game, and literally have no chance in winning the cup. But hey, patriotism, fandom, and the underdog. I’m all in baby!
Stephanie is here and Eric should show up later.

No cable is chapping my ass. I’ve got bunny ears on an HD TV and it keeps going squarular every 30 seconds.
The running south african music and vodka will make me trip out and try to present my bloody marry like the lion king presented Simba.

If you want to know about the US team, their defense sucks and their offense is average. Average offense is huge for the US team… perhaps their best offense ever. Keep in mind that their best ever is considered average on the international stage.

The game hasn’t started yet, and I’m wondering if I’m hearing the wasp nest or the retarded horns

the pregame was significantly better than any superbowl pregame show… just wish they had less emphasis on why we should care. people that are curious and watching without any knowledge aren’t going to be any more interested because an expert told them they should be interested. they need to know the basics and the important strategies. a few superstar profiles is fine though.

England comes out pissed and focused.
Side note: who the hell is going to put on glasses to watch TV? I understand in a video game, but for such a passive entertainment?

Oh no, that soccer game was AWESOME! the running thread was fail… eh well, it’s like a dog; you try, shit yourself, you try, you shit in the corner where no one will see it…
For those that don’t know, this game was a huge victory for the Americans. England was the better team and they played better. Our goaltender was beyond great and saved our asses multiple times, and their goaltender gave up the softest goal ever. End result tie.
England will regroup and dominate the rest of the group. America learned defense on the fly (seriously, it looked like they figured it out 1/2 way through the game). I expect both of these teams to make it to the round of 16. I expect England to advance at least 1 round (but be eliminated before the semis), and with all hopefulness the Americans to advance 1 round max (given a good draw and some serious luck).
If you don’t understand soccer, please let me explain… the US just fought their hearts out to a superior boxer to a decision. If judges had any say, England would have won handily. Instead, they got a numerical tie. A huge accomplishment for the US squad considering they got their brains beat out and still kept fighting.
US Soccer is not something to win; it’s something to fight… and I’ll take that any day over a bitch rolling on the ground holding his ankle to get a free kick in the box to get a win. I only hope someone from Liverpool still reads this blog and takes that conclusion the the Premier League.
