McNair, 36, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville, police spokesperson Don Aaron said. A female victim was also found dead.

Steve McNair was drafted third overall by the Houston Oilers in 1995 and last played for the Ravens in 2007. Here’s a look at the quarterback’s 13-year NFL career:

• Honored as three-time Pro Bowler
• Shared league’s MVP award with Peyton Manning in 2003
• Led Tennessee to Super Bowl XXXIV in 1999, the only such appearance in franchise history, where the Titans lost to the Rams 23-16
• Joined Fran Tarkenton and Steve Young as the only players to pass for 30,000 yards and rush for 3,500 yards

UPDATE:
6:20 p.m.: Steve McNair and female shot to death

Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron has confirmed that the victim in the double killing was not McNair’s wife. The woman killed still has not been named.

Crime scene investigators are meticulously processing the scene, Aaron said.
“Once that processing is done I’ll come out with further updates,” Aaron said.

A Cadillac Escalade and a Lincoln Navigator were towed away from the scene.

Statement From Governor Phil Bredesen On The Death of Steve McNair:

“Andrea and I were very saddened by the news of Steve McNair’s death. He has always felt like part of the Nashville family, and he will be sorely missed.”

Another UPDATE:

Slain woman’s ex-boyfriend says she was dating Steve McNair

The woman has been identified as Sahel Kazemi, 20. Her ex-boyfriend, Keith Norfleet said she and McNair had been seeing each other for several months.

Wayne Neely, a friend of McNair’s who also rents a condo with him, arrived on Saturday to find the bodies inside.

Neighbors at the Cherry Creek apartment complex in Hermitage said they often saw McNair visiting Kazemi at her apartment. At times, she would arrive home in a limousine. She told neighbors her new black vehicle was a gift from her boyfriend.

(…)

“She is the sweetest girl, and she did not deserve this. He was making her believe they were going to be together, and everything would be perfect,” Norfleet said.

McNair is survived by his four sons, Junior, Steve, Tyler, and Trenton, and his wife Mechelle.

No offense, but if she was such a ’sweet girl’, why was she playing in someone else’s playground?  And I just can’t find any sympathy for him at all.  The weasel had a wife and four children.  Where was his respect for him?  I don’t give a flip who he was….wrong is wrong!
