Ick's Corner

I was watching a tour event a few weeks back, and was reminded why I don’t watch golf more often. Now I love what Tiger has done for the sport, he is the face of pro golf.  He has made a younger crowd interested to the sport. Its no longer your dads sport.  He has basically made it cool to play golf, and made it acceptable for corporations to pay millions of dollars worth of endorsements to pro golfers. Now here is my MAJOR gripe, and once again its not directed at Tiger. So all you Tiger fans that were getting ready to flood my inbox with hate mail, relax!

While watching the tour event a few weeks ago I happen to catch Phil Mickelson getting ready for a tee shot (drive). After he drove the ball you hear someone in the crowd yell *You suck, Tiger is still the best*. Ok well everyone knows that buddy, but thanks for feeling the need to make an ass of yourself.  Here’s one that is even more annoying.

*In sports commentator whisper* Tiger is getting ready for his tee shot, he has had such a wonderful day. Oh my, what a drive. Looks like Tiger is really on his game, pause (voice from the crowd) *GET IN THE HOLE*!!!! That’s right, one of Tigers fans decided it was time to interject himself into the event. See it doesn’t matter if Tiger is on a par 3 where he could hit a hole in one, or on a 500+ yard par 5, one or more of the fans will yell *GET IN THE HOLE*! Seriously? I mean I know Tigers the man, but do you really think he can ace a par 5?

Tiger will go down in history as the greatest golfer to ever pick up a club, this is a given. I wish Tiger would take the time to make a public service announcement and air it for his fans. Letting them know that he appreciates the support, but please STFU! There is no reason for them to yell *GET IN THE HOLE* everytime he touches a club, and there is certanly no reason to yell at other golfers about Tigers greatness. I’m sure everyone on the tour knows how great Tiger is, I mean they do have to play against him during the season.
