Must Win Situation…

November 16th, 2008 · No Comments

To say tomorrow nights game at Washington is big is an understatement, its a must win statement game. The Cowboys come into the season heavy favorites to win the Superbowl and now find themselves at 5-4, how does that happen? Here are the main three reasons that help me sleep better at night…

- Playing as a really high price collection of athletes who forgot how to play as a team

- The injury to Tony Romo

- The off field distractions like Hard Knocks, and Pacman Jones

With Romo the Cowboys would have probably won the last 2 out of 3 games. (winning at St. Louis, and still beating Tampa Bay at home). Its 50/50 with Romo against the Giants. Even with Romo I dont think the Cowboys go to Washington tomorrow night and blow out the Redskins. Even with the recent play of Jason Campbell, and Clinton Portis being a game time decision, its still going to be a close game. Do the Cowboys win tomorrow night? Does the Cowboys offensive line pull it back together and protect Romo? If you answered yes, then the Cowboys have a chance. Also keep in mind that Romo has never won in Washington.

Its no secret the Cowboys need to play better as a team. Both offensively and defensively. Our secondary must keep Moss in check. Everytime the Cowboys play the Redskins, Moss ends up looking like an elite top 5 wide receiver. Tomorrow night we find out what kind of heart this Cowboys team has. I want to see this team step up and start playing like they did the first three games of the season. I want to see them come out and punch the Redskins square in the mouth, and establish themselves as the team everyone thought they were coming into this season. This offense has the capability of being very explosive, lets see it! A wise man once told me *don’t talk about it, be about it*. That is outstanding advice for the Cowboys.

I grow tired of listening to interviews with Zach Thomas, T.O., Patrick Crayton, Tank Johnson, and others talking about good they know they are. We fans need to see how good you are! At 5-4 the time for talking is over.  Should the Cowboys lose tomorrow night, Wade Phillips could be on the next thing smoking out of Dallas.  Ok maybe that is a stretch since Jerry rode it out with Dave Campo, Norv Turner, and Chan Gailey. Course Jerry also didn’t have the talent he has now back then, and the money invested in his players like he does now. Finally just for the record I am not sold on Jason Garrett as the next head coach of the Cowboys, just my opinion.
