Whenever the conversation comes up about what wide receiver would I like to see wearing a Cowboys uniform, Roy Williams has always been one of the first names that comes up. After two years of talks with the Detroit Lions, Jerry Jones finally put a package together to make Roy Williams a Cowboy!!
The Lions will receive the following draft picks for Williams..
First Round Draft Pick in 09
Third Round Draft Pick in 09
Seventh Round Draft Pick in 10
With the Cowboys getting back their 5th round draft pick from Tennessee since Pacman has recently been suspended, and find themselves not having to part with an additional draft pick this year, the Cowboys are still in good shape in next Aprils draft. Roy Williams had this to say when asked how he felt about the trade.
“I’m more happy to be a Dallas Cowboy than when I got my first bike,” said Williams, an Odessa, Texas, native who went to the University of Texas.”
I would be happy to be leaving the Lions too Roy. Roy Williams has been with a loosing franchise since he entered the league, and never once has been vocal in the media about how bad his team sucked! Having Joey Harrington, and John Kitna throwing your the ball would drive any wide receiver to become disgruntle. Cowboys fans were concerned how diva wide receiver Terrell Owens would take the news, and true #2 would be joining the team, word from Valley Ranch is he is estatic. He told Jerry Jones that this was a great move, and it should free up some double coverage he has been facing. Gee does that sound familiar??? Now word yet how Patrick Crayton is taking the news of moving to #3 on the depth chart. Lets face it, that’s where Crayton belongs. Course in GM Ick’s depth chart, Crayton is sitting at about #4 or #5.
The best thing about this trade, is the fact that the Cowboys traded for a player that is not TROUBLED! What a concept!! Liverdamage and I were talking after the trade, and Liverdamage delivered one of the best lines of the day. ” Now we have 2 Roy Williams on the team that can’t play safety”!!!

Seems the last time Roy Williams was good at playing safety was when he was part of double covering the good Roy Williams.
Maybe this is what he needs to be good again. Now if we can keep the new Roy-O from pulling an Irvin in Philly the 5 year extension will be off the chain with an awesome receiver lined up outside or in the slot for Romo. Maybe we can sign some defense in the off season or possibly a training staff that trains in preventative maintenance rather than strength as our O-Line is inactive because of injury.
