And So It Continues…

October 13th, 2008 · 13 Comments

This was waiting for me in my email, can’t say I’m real surprised..

This little cartoon must have been drawn by a Sooner fan, since most Sooner fans think the refs handed Texas the game. This was sent to me courtesy of the Bean… *shakes head*  Seriously??? I have said everything I have to say about this game in a post yesterday

I guess when I wrote that post I should have been a fan, instead of trying to be objective. I guess I should not have gone out of my way to point out how horrible the officiating was. I should have left out the praise for the Sooners program.

The fact that OU only slid down to #4 after loosing this weekend, should speak volumes to how good this game really was, DESPITE the officiating! The Texas fan in me would like to close by saying this!!!

That picture of the kid still makes me laugh! I know I seemed like him with the e-mail but your reply that there was no game changing penalty? Uh, er… okay. I guess we didn’t intercept the ball in the end zone either.

Nice win, Horns. T Tech and Mizzou showed what they were this weekend. It’s always nice in Miami in January!

BTW… that is one hell of a QB under center in Austin!

“Yesterday, just like all Red River Shootouts there was not a single GAME changing flag.”

Did you even watch the game, or were you too busy adjusting the straps on your UT cheerleader outfit? I had no dog in the hunt, but jeez, some of the calls were so bad I thought Al Davis made ‘em. I’ll bet that the first thing Stoops did after the game was to make sure his wallet was still in his back pocket. I mean really, Dallas hasn’t seen a gang of crooks this brazen since Barry Switzer brought his last group of Sooners to town.

You know, there were calls on both sides of the ball that were questionable. Let’s just say the refs ruled the end zone “catch” an interception, and OU had gotten the ball on the twenty. Can you tell me how the game would have changed? Maybe Texas would have won by 7 instead of 10. But remember this…the defender has the same obligation to control the ball when he hits the ground as the receiver does, and the defender didn’t. If he’d come up with the ball in his hands, yes, it’s an int. But he didn’t, and as they say, the rest is history. Time to man up, and get ready for the next game.

Dragon, you are slightly smarter than a retard on Focus Factor. OU got just as many calls as Texas if not more. I couldn’t tell you how ofter OU-ch was in our backfield before the ball snapped and wasn’t called for it. Sure, they were called for quite a few but their were blatant instances where the guy jumping back was still on our side with no flag thrown. Sure I’m a homer for the #1 team in the country but at least we manned up when down came back and won the game, bad calls or not. OU-ch had their chances to come back back and shut us down but guess what? They pulled a Dragon and started crying about every call that wasn’t in their favor. I got an idea, have a goal line stand if you want to keep UT out of the end zone. No reason anyone should run around the corner on your azz over and over again.

How about you play the game quit crying and be glad that Ed Hoculee isn’t ref’ing college ball.

    Hey Steve,
Good post, but keep in mind I’m not a fan of OU or UT.

Oh how I have waited all day to write this response..

    @ Dragon..

After I adjusted the straps on my cheerleader outfit, I had to check my makeup and must have missed..

The fact that both teams were jumping offsides

The fact that the Sooners were riding Longhorn defenders down to the ground, but some how that wasn’t holding

The fact that both teams were extremely physical and SEVERAL flags were not thrown for pass interference

The fact that a f**king Oscar should have been handed out at the end of the game for that Oscar winning performance by OU’s kicker late in the game (Which by the way kept that drive alive, where OU would later score)

The fact that with about 10 minutes left to go in the game Texas decided they wanted it more

The fact that Colt McCoy came into this game and said I run this! McCoy was in complete control of himself and his offense.

The fact that OU walked into the Cotton Bowl and EXPECTED to win the game, and were punched square in the mouth. OU had never trailed in a game this entire season and didn’t know how to handle it

The fact that despite all the BS flags, OU was still in the game until they couldn’t stop the Horns from putting the nail in the coffin.

Damn imagine what I would have noticed if I actually watched the game!

I have also noticed that you agree with EVERYTHING the Bean has to say when he leaves a comment.. Do you tuck him in at night, bring him a glass of warm milk, and read him a bedtime story?? Talk about a cheerleader

Last but not least I noticed your 5-10 performance in this weeks picks..

Also allow me to explain the *game changing flags* since that’s what you latched on to in that post. Did any of the flags throw change the outcome of the game??? Nope not one bit. See game changing flags come with limited time on the clock, and allows a team to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Just wanted to make sure that everyone was clear of that..

Thanks for your comments, they are always appreciated!!

If I weren’t a fan of either school, I don’t think I’d even jump in on this debate. Of course, when you root for Tennessee School for the Simple Minded, you don’t get much to cheer for!!

Wow Ick, that’s a long post…it should keep the lips moving for most of your readers for quite a while.

 game changing flags, just and OUld fasion beat down, Texas Style. Maybe your team will be good some day. Not sure who they are but if you routed for OU is probably some Community College somewhere where close to where you live.
