The Great Wolf Lodge Experience…

September 30th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Over the weekend we took small person and 2 of her friends out to the Great Wolf Lodge for an overnight adventure. Armed with overnight bags, snacks, drinks, and a must have bottle of Tullamore Due we make our way out to Grapevine. Small person was completely in the dark as to what we could possibly have planned for her. She apparently didn’t notice the  huge funnel shaped slide outside when we pulled in

There are some slides that actually come out of the building, then wrap back around into the building. The above picture is known as the “Howling Coyote”. This slide almost ended small persons riding water slides. This one scared the hell outta here. In her defense, it was a pretty rough ride. Ok so, we pull up to the front and unload the cars and the kids, once again small person still has no idea what is going on.

The indoor water park can be seen from the check in desk. Needless to say small person says we along with Ol Broad are the greatest thing in the world! So the wife and I finish the check in process and peel the kids off the window so we can make our way to our room. While walking through the hotel it is becoming painfully obvious that the bottle of whiskey that made the trip was going to be much needed with all the kids running the halls of the hotel. We get to our room, known as the *kid cabin* room, and once again when we get inside we along with Ol Broad are the greatest things since sliced bread. The kid cabin comes complete a parent bed, a sleeper sofa, patio, and a built in kid hideout. Bunk beds, and 15″ wall mounted plasma screen. Video games available for an additional charge of course.

The top of the wall quickly became a kid perch for some strange reason!

Jen, Karissa’s mom points out some critter on the wall I must get a picture of..

It took us all of about 20 minutes to get in our room, stock the fridge, and change into our swim suites, and back out the door to the water park. After several hours of water park adventures and pruny skin, we head back to the room to get cleaned up, so we can go have dinner at the “Loose Moose Caboose”, that name cracks me up. While eating dinner the mascots start making their rounds, and you know there had to be pictures taken with said mascots. Mrs. Ick could only shake her head!

We finish the night with a tiring round of *Magic Quest*. The way this works is you buy a wand from the Magic Quest store, and you pick from 6 diffrent quests. They have interactive items set up all over the hotel, and when I say all over, I mean on all 8 floors of the hotel. Needless to say there were kids running wild up until about 10:30 trying to complete these quests.  Someone was thinking ahead when they laid this game out. If you have to go to the upper floors in search of things for your quest, you must take the stairs. Yup, you have to go up and down flights of stairs while playing this game. If you take your wand into the elevators, it will clear out the data stored on your wand, and you have to start over. This is why I say someone was thinking ahead. If these little rugrats have to go up and down the stairs to play the game, it frees up the elevators for the parents trying to escape to their rooms.. All and all it was a good birthday weekend for small person.
