Above is a picture of Galveston yesterday afternoon before Ike actually made land fall. I’ve been up for most of the morning watching the weather channel, and other news channels, Houston got K.O.’ed last night. I was able to get ahold of Lajitas this morning, he and his wife are fine. He has not ventured out of his house to check for damage. He also was lucky not to experience any flooding. He said he has been without power since about 10:30 last night. Now Lajitas is a hurricane pro, living in Houston all his life.. but I was still worried about him, so I was glad I was able to get ahold of him this morning.
Downtown Houston is a mess. The JP Morgan Chase building from what I can tell right now from all news reports was hit the hardest. Several hundred windows blown out, leaving blinds just flapping in the wind.
As always with any big storm heading towards the Houston area, people are still able to keep their sense of humor!

We’re alive and kickin’ down here, but getting tired of seeing these fools bitchin’ about having no electricity yet!! It’s gonna be a while, dude, and all the whining isn’t going to change that. Fuckin’ man up, will ya!! And to the people who didn’t evacuate Galveston when they told ya….go back to New Orleans!!
