Hurricane Ike…

Having lived through some pretty bad hurricanes I know what the people in Houston, Galveston, and Port Aurthur are in for. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are about to deal with one hell of a storm. Lajitas is currently preparing himself to ride out the storm down in Houston. He has boarded up his windows, gathers his must haves including bottled water, canned goods, cold beer, and whiskey! He did however find the time to send me a pretty funny email.

Top Ten Reasons Hurricane Season Is Like Christmas

Number Ten:
Decorating the house (with plywood).

Number Nine:
Dragging out boxes that haven’t been used since last season.

Number Eight:
Last minute shopping in crowded stores.

Number Seven:
Regular TV shows pre-empted for ‘Specials’.

Number Six:
Family coming to stay with you.

Number Five:
Family and friends from out of state calling you.

Number Four:
Buying food you don’t normally buy . . . and in large quantities.

Number Three:
Days off from work.

Number Two:
Candles.

And the Number One reason Hurricane Season is like Christmas:
At some point you’re probably going to have a tree in your house!

Now Lajitas is married to an aggie, and when I called down there last night I had to remind him the plywood does go on the outside of the window. Just reminding him incase his wife had rubbed off on him.

Hurricanes are nothing to joke about, but this is pretty damn funny!

While watching the Weather Channel’s coverage they showed a wrecker truck rolling around the flooded streets of Galveston, carrying a sign strapped to his truck that read..
