We had a field trip night around the corner tonight. Liverdamage, Tech Support, Mrs. Tech Support and I headed over to SMU to catch the home opener against Texas State. I have to say it was fairly interesting to see what June Jones has been up to with this SMU team. As always when there is an outing, there are pictures..
Think SMU is proud to have June Jones as their head coach? “June Cometh” is not only all over the local radio here in Dallas, but was all over the campus and stadium.
Fans, students, and alum getting their pre game party on. Walking across the campus to get to the stadium I had the feeling that people were finally starting to get excited about SMU Mustang football..
We found our way to our seats, and I must say Tech Support did pretty good when picking our seats. Though we were on Texas States side.. LOL I am happy to report there were no brawls or trash talking between the locals and Texas State fans.
Now with seats on about the 40 or so, you think we would have been happy. Nope, Liverdamage and I decided to make our way to the endzone so we could break down formations and routes. Plus we were not sitting on top of each other, like we were in our original seats. After halftime we decided to make our way up to the top of the stadium (around the 50) and finish the game. Mr and Mrs. Tech Support decided to join us after I sent them a message with our location. Fun was had by all, and we are currently planning to try and attend a couple more games this season, possibly the Houston, and TCU game. Funny moments of the evening.
1. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, they started playing Journey’s *Don’t Stop Believing* to fire up the crowd. Tech Support leans over and asks *Why are we stuck in the 80′s again* To which I replied, *Because that’s the last time SMU was good*? I’m sure that song was on the bill board top 40 the last time SMU football was good.
2. While we were crossing campus to get back to the car, I noticed everyone on campus was really really quiet. No rowdy fans, no yelling, nothing. Now keep in mind with this win tonight, this SMU team has matched their total wins for the season last year. They now have a win streak.. ONE! Liverdamage had to clarify my confusion. He said its simple, winning is a foreign feeling for the SMU fans. They don’t know how to react to a win.
