Probably not. I was just going for the longest Ick’s Corner headline award.
If I had a dollar for every time I heard Chris, Beanie, or Wells today, I don’t know… I’d have $60 or so. He led off every college football story on all the networks all week. He was the “story” before the game today. While I’m at it, let’s talk about that game. Why in hell is Ohio State vs. Ohio U on ESPN?
She-male, Pam Ward (in her usual Randy Macho Man Savage voice) talked about how Ohio State will play without Wells, how they will dress without Wells, how the hot dog vendors will feel about selling dogs to people unable to watch Wells. She hit it all. With the engraving all but done on Chris Wells’ 2008 Heisman, the media (ESPN) seems to be in full spin mode.
Quote of the day: “Wow, Wells is really missed today.” Of course this was during an Ohio U scoring drive. Not sure a running back would have much to say about all the yards they were eating up against OSU.
Sure, they were flat. Of course they were looking ahead to next week’s game with USC. But this team (with or without ESPN’s Heisman hopeful) is entirely beatable and very ordinary. The whole country will see this next week.
That doesn’t fix things. One (early season) loss probably gets you in to the championship game. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Ohio St. tip toes through a cupcake schedule, rolls into bowl season riding their usual media hype, gets passed around to another SEC team like a drunk prom date. Georgia? Auburn?
Vandy?

The kind of bullshit I would expect from rednecks.

Dear Buck-
Thank you for your prompt and ignorant comment. I’ve spent some time in Ohio. Redneck? I wake up daily and know that no matter what is said about me, I will not be going to sleep that night sandwiched between those fun lovin’ sister dating folk in KY, couch burning hicks of West Virginia and Canada.
Yes, Buck, as you brush out your sweet, sweet mullet tonight, remember that if you’re old enough to look at the pretty pictures on the interweb, you’re old enough to get the ferk outta Ohio.
Not sure if it’s those toasty Lake Eerie fires, the hot Amish women, or the coal country black lung that keeps you there but whatever it is, get comfortable and check in again at the Corner when The Ohio State University is getting The annual ass kicking in a bowl game.

Wow Bean, your first post and you got people calling us names
I guess being REALISTIC fans with our eyes open to whats going on not ONLY with our team, but other teams around the country make us rednecks! :rotflmao:
Correct me if I’m wrong, because I’m a redneck (shakes head) but shouldn’t it have been “Buckeye Shaun”??

Why would you expect anything less than that from someone who roots for a school whose mascot is a nut? With apologies to my Dad, the truth is what it is. Not even the hype monsters at ESPN will be able to carry the “Round-Eyes” to the BCS championship game!

All of this Ohio St talk will end in 7 days.

It happens every year.Ohio State starts slow because they don’t get up for early games.Sounds like jealous fans of loser teams talk. I do agree that the chick that does the morning ESPN games is awful!

Jealous fans of loser teams talk? Umm Lets examine that statement for a second
Bean – Die Hard Sooner Fan – 7 National Titles the University of Oklahoma acknowledges, and another 7 the school does not, as they were not awarded by the Associated Press, United Press International, Today’s Coaches Poll, or the BCS
Hey Bean your team is a Loser..
Lajitas/Ick – Die Hard Longhorn Fans
4 National titles. From 1934-2004 The Longhorns finished the season in the top 10 of the APP 23 times.
Apparently we also are fans of a Loser team
Trojan Man – I would be left to assume that he is a USC fan. Do we really need to dig into their past to once again find out they are a Loser team as well?
Point of the story is, the media once again is hyping up Ohio State. Not saying they have a bad football program, but they haven’t exactly had the roughest of schedules over the last few years.
This years schedule has then facing (Currently 4 ranked teams) One of them is on 11/15 @ Illinois and they are currently sitting at #24 and could be an unranked team come November.
Last season they played 4 ranked teams (none of which were in the top the top 20) and finished 10-1 and some how beat out Virginia Tech to play in the National Championship game. VT finished 11-2 and played 5 ranked teams. 4 of them in the top 20 at time of game. I know teams (other then Notre Dame) can’t help who they play on their schedule, but having said that strength of schedule does play into the BCS grand scheme and should be taken into consideration when people including ESPN start hyping up teams
Its not hateful fans, its not *My team is better then yours*, it boils down to the numbers. Ohio State has a powerhouse of a team rolling into the horseshoe. With our without Wells its going to be a tough, hard fought game.
These are merely my opinions. Take them for what they are worth. I pride myself on not being a homer. If my teams suck, Ill be the first to admit it. I have blasted the Cowboys, and Longhorns several times in the past. I have even gone so far as to refer to Mack Brown as the *Jerry Lewis* of the Big 12, and Colt McCoy is his retard leading field general. If you wish to see examples, check the archives!
Ah thank god its football season!

Ohio is going to get trounced next week but I’ve always like Ohio more than Mich…
BTW, I thought only political blogs had to deal with assholes?? Guess I was wrong.
Redneck? If that’s all he could come up with, he obviously was the sole survivor of litter spawned by his mothers sisters wife by his uncle on his brothers mothers side…..(Hell figure it , his kind understand that as normal)

Well, Weedhopper, at least your site is being read by a wide variety of readers. Now the left coast fans have been heard from. A team named after a condom!! Bitchin’!! Also, a team that has earned the new title of “Best Team Money Can Buy” (still haven’t heard the last from the Reggie Bush drama). SMU found out the hard way what happens to cheaters (which btw was in the ’80′s so “don’t stop believing”). If it weren’t for television’s big money influence, that’s probably where the Rubber Boys would be.

I happen to agree with the Bug. It’s comforting to know that no matter what else happens this bowl season, Marty McFly…er Jim Tressel will continue to have his team get passed around by the SEC family faster than a recessive gene after an Appalachian wedding.
Let’s face it, the only thing keeping THE Ohio St. Univ. from being THE bowl comedy is the continuing ineptitude of Oklahoma against anybody in the post-season.
Perhaps we could get OU to play THE OSU, maybe after about 6 weeks somebody could kick a field goal to win.

Nobody talks crap about teams that do not matter. Keep talking. Buckeye Nation will just keep on winning.

Jealous of what? I love it when teams have fans that are so blind to facts, that they just don’t get it. To all the Ohio State fans out there.. good luck with your up coming match with USC. Good luck with the rest of your season. Since you don’t want to even have a rational discussion about your team, I wish you all the luck with your season. *shakes head*

Hey Buckeye fans,
Go back and read the post. This isn’t a hit piece on your school or your football team. I’m just sick of the Chris Wells talk by week 2.
Coach sweater vest has taken advantage of some pretty tasty scheduling and some favorable rankings the last few years and lost in bowl games. That’s it. I was just writing what most outside of the Buckeye state are thinking.
That thinking goes something like this; “Please, God, don’t let Herbstreit and ESPN beat this drum so hard that OSU just walks in to another BSC Championship game fresh from their wins over Akron, Youngstown St, and Northwestern only to get stomped”.
I never mentioned the phantom pass interference call against Miami, your Hello Kitty looking glittery helmets, or the Monica Lewinsky berets your band wears. I’m actually kind of sick of this conversation.
So, enjoy your wins over Indiana and a down Michigan, continue to feel superior because northeastern media tells you that those are big wins, and wait for Georgia, USC, or any number of teams you may face in a bowl game dot that stupid “I” for you.
Sorry I was so mean. Maybe I’ll send Maurice Clarett a file in a cake to make up for it.
