Should I Stay Or Should I Go??? The Final Episode…

August 5th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Episode five opens with frustrations at an all time high in the ever so tiresome soap opera knows as *Brett Favres Return*, and this will be my last post on this subject. Farve could grow a third arm that passes for 6000 yards this upcoming season, and I could give a DAMN less! Last Wednesday marked Major League Baseballs trade deadline, and we had some pretty big names traded such as..

Pudge Rodriguez going to the Yankees, after Jorge Posada found himself needing season ending surgry…

Mark Texieira goes to Bushwack’s beloved Angels, like they really needed anymore help..

And last but not least the big three team trade that sent Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers..

Now you think these would have taken top billing on Sportscenter Wednesday night, nope.. they took a backseat to Brett Favre and the Packers offer of $20 Million dollars to stay retired. Since the speculation of Favres return, he has basically taken top billing on EVERY Sportscenter, and now even has his own ticker. I have absolutely had it with this Bullsh*t!

If Favre did not want to retire, then he should not have held his press conference, he should have taken the extra time he claims he was not being given by the Packers, and made a well thought out decision. The Packers not getting much offensive help over the last few years was obviously their attempt to help Favre make the decision to retire. Would Favre really want to come back for another season had the Packers not gone 13-3 last season? I think not! Does Favre want to make peace with himself, after HIS poor choice in last seasons NFC game to throw into DOUBLE COVERAGE, that would eventually cost the Packers a trip to Arizona??? ABSOLUTELY! (Sorry Packer fans, not trying to open up old wounds) I’m sure Favre is getting the itch to want to play again, with training camp starting, I know they make a cream for that itch Brett! Go down to your local Piggly Wiggly and check into that.

Last night Favre, wife, and agent arrive in Wisconsin, its reported that Favre will have a chance to compete for the starting job *cough bullsh*t cough*. After a 5 hour meeting with the powers that be, Favre has left camp, and now feels its best the Packers, and himself go their separate ways! Really???? You wasted the Packers every so precious jet fuel in these economically times to fly to Wisconsin to figure that out? We could have all told you it was time to just walk away from this extremely dysfunctional relationship. The Packers could have avoided this whole situation by just simply saying, We appreciate all the good and bad times we have shared together, we appreciate all you have done for us, but we have moved on. Then when the temper tantrums started, they should have just reminded Favre *We basically own your ass* (best way to put it). You decided to retire, you still have 3 years left on your contract with us, were NOT going to trade you, were NOT going to outright release you.

Yeah the Packers would have probably taken a kick in the PR crotch from the fans, but I can tell you one thing, they would have gotten through it. Packer fans are some of the most loyal fans to every love a team this world have ever seen. Donald Duck could be the starting quarterback, and fans would still attend games, season tickets would still have to be inherited, and life would have gone on! I understand Favre is a legend, First ballot Hall Of Famer, but NO one include Favre is bigger then the TEAM. Favre should really remember there is no *I* in TEAM!

The Mark Tex going to the Angels.. Mixed feelings here. Personally I would have been just as happy if they kept Kotch. I think M.T will help, I think the Angels were going to be the team to beat anyway, but I am glad they made a move, I think it was a bigger move than they needed.
Something you guys might not know is the reason this move was so necessary is Gary Mathews has a hurt knee, he is struggling at the plate and they needed some power to protect vladdy.

    On Favre:
I think it is chicken shit of GB to treat him like this. I think BF should have STFU after the season until he was sure he wanted to retire.

GB should release him, let him play for someone else if they don’t want him. They are trying to make sure that if Brett plays he wont hurt them. That’s the BS part. If they think he might hurt them, then have him play for GB.
Personally I wish someone would offer me 20 mil to stay home… hell I’d take 100k .

The whole thing stinks and the management of GB and BF are both idiots.

Roberts last blog post..Racist hypocrite at American Power

One thing to consider though, if Favre had taken the time he wanted, as he has for the last 2-3 years, then people would have said he dangling retirement over the Packers head as usual.

This whole situation has been completely blown way out there… *looks for reality tv cameras* oh wait.. Sportscenter has that one covered!!! ;)
