The boys of WSBK and the AMA Superbike series made a trip to Utah this weekend with a joint event held at Miller Racetrack in Tooele Utah.

In AMA action, race one on Saturday saw the former champ and current points lead Mat Mladin crash out of the race on the 2nd lap which handed another easy win to Ben Spies. Mat was uninjured in the crash but his bike wasn’t so lucky……

Race 2 on Sunday went to the seemingly unstoppable Ben Spies again with Mladin finishing a distant 4th. I’m guessing he probably wasn’t feeling so good. I would look for this to be Ben’s last year in the AMA. Speculation has it that the big guys at Suzuki want him overseas next year.

WSBK action had Carlos Checa taking the weekend double. Yamaha’s Nori Haga crashed hard on Saturday, breaking his collar bone. His condition lead everyone to believe he was out for the weekend but not Nori, he managed to ride both legs. Nori crashed out of the first leg but didn’t injure himself any further and managed to finish 6th in race 2.

Ducati finish 3rd in the first race and 3rd and 4th in the second.

The only big guys not in Utah this past weekend were the MotoGP guys. They spend their weekend in Italy. NICE!!!! The race went as expected with Val ‘My helmet is so cool’ Rossi taking the easy win over Ducati’s Casey Stoner at the circuit in Mugello, Italy. Did I mention that Mugello is Rossi’s hometown? It’s kinda hard to beat the hometown guy on his home track. Dani Pedrosa finished 3rd on his Honda.

In local news, Milwaukee that is, The A.J. Foyt 225 was won by that bucket full-o-dunce who took out Danica at the Indy 500, Ryan Briscoe. Danica finished a distant 9th with handling problems.

This coming weekend has the AMA Supers up at the most beautiful track in North America, Road America at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
