Matt Ryan signed his contract with the Atlanta Falcons today, and good lord its a big one. Were talking $72 million over six years, with $34.75 million guaranteed. HOLY S**T thats alot for the 3rd pick overall. I mean thats almost Peyton Manning money, for a rookie! I hope Aurthur Black and the Falcons know what they are doing. First overall pick Jake Long’s contract was only a 5 year $57.75 million dollars. I wonder if he could have gotten alittle more if he had waited til after he was drafted, rather then agreeing to a deal a week before the draft?
I hope the Falcons have figured out what they are going to do for wide receivers, because that kinda money being paid for a quarterback, there has to be someone to catch his passes. Lets face it, the Falcons wide receiver core leaves something to be desired.

It’s ridiculous the amount of cash they’re paying rookies. Eventually, the slope will have to level out or else, you’ll be seeing 50 million guaranteed in the near future. And he wasn’t even the first pick!!

I await the day that the NFL implements the same rookie pay scale the NBA has. One million dollars the first year.. then the rest of your contract kicks in.
